Chikungunya Write For Us: Chikungunya is a virus-related disease spread by mosquito bites and transmitted by an Aedes aegypti mosquito infected with the virus. But, It remains derived from Kimakonde / Makonde, which means “bent” in Southern Tanzania. Indeed, people suffering from Chikungunya experience severe joint pain, causing them to walk improperly and frequently fall and bend; this is why the disease is known as Chikungunya.
But The main causes of Chikungunya in humans are the CHIKV and CHIKF viruses. It is a disease with no initial symptoms and manifests after 3 – 4 days of infection. This fever is very related to dengue fever and remains investigated using serological tests such as ELISA, which aids in detecting antibodies.
